Fissure
Objective: To explore the creation of fantastic 3D environments
Delivery: I created an explorable science fiction world in Unity 3D
Project: Electronic Arts Thesis Project at RPI
Fissure is the end product of my electronic art thesis. It is fairly non-interactive virtual environment, much smaller in scope than my original plans, but it represents a great deal of personal stylistic and aesthetic exploration. This project was my very first tentative step into using the Unity engine and I encountered many hurdles with texture limitations and shaders. Still, I am proud of the skybox I created (which has been re-used in other projects), and the alien pitcher plant trees. From this project, I gained a lot of experience with Autodesk Mudbox creating textures and normal maps
Alien Plant
These large plants were envisioned as a cross between a pitcher plant and a lamprey. It attracts insects to it's glowing bulb and sucks them in with a massive gulp of air.
I modeled the base mesh in Maya and brought it into Mudbox to sculpt details and paint the various textures.
